It's been long awaited but at last as of 2 July the fish have been spawning. Once they have settled down we should expect some big catches. Overall, the fishing has been more productive than past years and since the long winter it's been obvious that the larger original fish are 2-3Ibs down from last year. However, the smaller stock fish continue to grow very fast with many new 20's appearing. One Italian strain fish stocked at 8 Ibs in November 2011 was caught at 22 Ibs plus in early June. On average the stock fish seem to be growing 4-5 Ibs a year which is pretty impressive. We have planted 300 metres of bull rushes, Norfolk reeds and other marginal plants at the shallow end of the lake behind a protective barrier. This will guard against future bank erosion whilst creating fabulous habitat for wildlife and of course Carp too. It will make the margins even more attractive. We are getting regular applications for membership and are interviewing people on a regular basis and adding them to the list. The rest of the summer promises to be very productive.
