Westbourne House Lake is full of surprises. There’s the ‘original’ Carp that are still being discovered. Only 6-8 of the estimated 20 original stock have been banked over the last 3 years so there’s more to be done. There’s definitely a couple of large uncaught Mirrors present, a few 30 plus Commons and a very large Common which continues to evade capture. The stock fish are growing like crazy but are also elusive. We estimate that 40% of these are yet to be caught. We put this down to the high levels of natural food and the natural ‘wildness’ of the Italian strain.
On top of this there’s the Pike. We are surprised to see the lake producing half a dozen upper twenties and plenty of doubles. There’s plenty of food fish to keep them growing.
