Wildlife

Wildlife

The lake environment is home to a rich selection of insects, birds and wildlife. There are Deer present which are visible mainly during the winter, although the odd stag has been sited as it swum over a baited area in mid summer! The grass snakes usually keep themselves to themselves but are present in numbers. The birdlife is also rich and varied with Buzzards, Kingfishers and many other birds resident and many others visiting at different times of the year.

The insect life is prolific which is evident by the remarkable hatches that rise from the water. Carp can be seen preoccupied on these and the vast beds of snails and other natural food throughout the year.
