Stage 3: Finishing School

The specially selected Carp for on-growing are introduced directly into our ‘Stage 3’ lakes which are fed by high quality stream water all year round. Very importantly we are fortunate enough to be the first users of this high quality water with the actual source on our fish farm site. This successfully eliminates the possibility of pollution and the added worry of any fish disease being transported downstream from other fish farms or fisheries.

We keep our on-growing lakes at low stock densities to ensure a stress free environment where our Carp can get on with the important business of growing. In these natural and productive environments our carp are reared ‘extensively’, by this we mean that the top quality feed we introduce is provided only as a supplement to the Carp’s diet as they are already feeding naturally on the vast amounts of natural food which is available to them in our productive finishing lakes.

The carp pellet we supplementary feed also changes as the fish grow ensuring that our fish receive their correct dietary requirements at each stage of their lives. This means our fish are healthily grown and not ‘battery fed’ in intensive, overstocked and unhealthy environments.

During each harvest Steve and Roger will select a few extra special fish for their beauty and/or size; these specially selected Carp are kept and grown on for discerning clients who require larger specimen fish to complement their stocks. We can also supply a complete collection of quality fish for new waters that require stock so do give us a call to discuss your fishery needs. Contact us here.

In our waters we have already farmed Carp up to low forties but watch this space because in the future we intend to grow and supply our beloved ‘Italians’ well into and beyond 40 pounds!
