LATEST NEWS

Membership and waiting list open for Westbourne House Syndicate Fishery starting 1st March 2012.

In December 2009 Future Fisheries Ltd had the privilege of purchasing the freehold of a 30 acre gravel pit on the outskirts of Chichester in West Sussex.

This water has the ideal rich and varied aquatic habitat to produce very large specimen coarse fish including Carp. Its terrestrial surroundings are very young but attractive and the pit also has an underwater topography that will prove a very interesting challenge for any angler.

The lake had been left untouched over many years and has only been irregularly fished for one year (2009) by a smaller syndicate. During that year it was discovered that there were approximately 15 – 20 resident Carp but they were mostly 30 plus with some being over 40 pounds. One of these bigger Carp is a particularly large uncaught Common which has been regularly seen alongside other 40+ known fish making them look small. Clearly there are a few surprises in the lake.

Since we have taken over the water we have constructed access, safe car parking and comfortable swims where necessary. This new syndicate was filled quickly with 55 members. The membership list is open and currently has over 75 people on it.

The WHL syndicate has produced personal best Carp weights for many of our members with everyone enjoying the stock fish which are growing spectacularly. There have been 2 different 40’s caught with another fish ‘knocking on the door’. The lake record stands at 44Ibs 10ozs, the beautiful ‘Big Scaley’. The 59 stock fish we introduced late winter 2010 up to 22lb have already put on additional weights of between 8-12lb with an estimated 90% now weighing 20lb+. We believe 20-30 of these will make 30Ibs during 2012 and some will have done so already. These growth rates prove how rich and productive the lake is and indicate that our young stock fish should be reaching very large weights inside of five years. 44 more carp were stocked into the lake last season, 25 in November 2010 and 19 in March 2011. One of these fish stocked at 13.5 in December 2010 was caught in August 2011 at 28Ibs plus. The rest of the fish which averaged at 7Ibs 8ozs at the time of stocking are now averaging 12Ibs plus with some of them in the mid to upper double range already. We have added another 20 top quality italian strain Mirrors during December 2011 which means the number of Carp present is now approximately 140.

In addition to the Carp is the un explored stocks of Pike. At the time of writing a lake record of 25Ibs 6ozs has been caught. It’s by no means the only big Pike present.

Westbourne House lake provides secure, top quality large gravel pit fishing in beautiful surroundings. The syndicate is exclusive and governed by sensible rules. It’s a place away from crowded waters. The fishing is not easy due to the incredible levels of natural food. This means the potential for the future is mind blowing as we are able to select the best possible fish from our Fish Farm for the venue. We believe that Westbourne House Lake is destined to become one of the most sought after tickets in the south of England.

The price for 2012-2013 season is £475 with an entrance fee of £50.
